LAND
HEARTS
Artists of Appalachia and
the rural South exploring
earth-centered art & performance practices
When you don garments spun of pure moonlight and drink wine distilled from mountain mists, how can you go back to polyester and soda pop? Well, you don’t have to.
STEP INTO
THE PORTAL.
LOOK AROUND.
Do you see your fellow dreamers? Your kinfolk? Amorous freaks in love with the universe? In love with future possibilities?
Land stewards. Solar punks. Blenders of ancient and new technologies.
Artists. Musicians. Clowns and pretenders. Timeline jumpers. Creative resourcers and trash sorcerers with hearts of gold.
Pessimists willing to be carried up the mountain. Structural idealists. Prefigurative visionaries with dreams of a life where there is enough mountain mist, moonlight sips, fruits, veg, and love to keep us clothed and nourished. And enough to share with our neighbors.

Land Hearts was founded in June 2026 to support ourselves and others in the journey away from extraction and commodification. These hallmarks have become the primary source and value of everything that defines the "art world."
What does a new world look like?
Over the coming months, we will be launching our first initiative: pop-up residencies for artists of all disciplines. These artists will be driven to share how they're hacking the art system. They‘ll be eager learn new ways to expand or recreate their art and performance practices into ones in which the mandate to produce sustainably leads to breakthroughs in their own work. When shared, this growth will contribute to the development of a new art world that heals Earth and its inhabitants.
Further down the road, we will be located on land in which art materials, food, and resources are gifted by the land in return for our care. This home will host gatherings, workshops, classes, residencies, and performances. Through these activities, we will breathe life into the new world as we continue to develop our collaborative vision.
We are rooted in and endlessly inspired by the culture, landscape, and soul of Appalachia and the rural South. We welcome all. -
At the intersection of art practice, community practice, and sustainability, there is a keyhole on the door to our future. We’ve approached this door many times and have been sent back searching. Now, we're working together to create the key. This is the energy that drives our creativity, our research, and our action.

Does this resonate with you? Have you been searching? Maybe you'd like to participate in a residency, class, or workshop. Perhaps you'd like to lead or host one. Maybe you know of land that needs a steward, or would like to contribute financially.
As we continue to develop our resources and programs, please sign up for our email list, make a donation, or send us a message with questions or ideas. We're looking forward to learning with you.
